Implants

A dental implant can be used to restore a single tooth or multiple teeth. Dental implants involve the placement of a surgical grade titanium post directly into the jawbone. As the bone bonds to the post, it forms a secure foundation for the attachment of a crown or a bridge that is custom created just for you. Some of the biggest advantages of implants are that they are more similar to your natural teeth, adjacent teeth do not have to be involved in the procedure, and they may help decrease or prevent shrinkage of your jawbone that can occur from tooth loss.

Implant-Supported Dentures

For some patients, typical dentures shift and require the use of denture adhesives to keep them in place. Implant-supported dentures provide a perfect solution. Implant-supported dentures fit solidly, reducing the problems associated with traditional dentures such as gum sores and difficulty speaking and chewing. Instead of removing your dentures to clean them, you'll care for your new smile just like natural teeth. Ask Dr. Lyons if implant-supported dentures are right for you.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are used if you have several teeth missing that cannot be corrected with a bridge. A partial denture is created to replace those teeth. The denture is removable and is designed to fit comfortably and to blend-in with any remaining teeth. This type of denture is made from a synthetic material that is supported with a lightweight metal. It mimics your gum tissue and teeth to create a natural looking smile while still remaining functional. The partial is important once the teeth have been removed to preserve the bone and to keep the existing teeth from tilting and growing in towards the gaps.

Crowns

Your teeth undergo a tremendous amount of wear and tear during your lifetime. Teeth may show this wear in a variety of ways, including discoloration, chipping, and cracking. Crowns restore your teeth and your smile to look brilliant once again. Porcelain crowns from Dr. Lyons are custom-milled out of porcelain and are shaped and shaded to blend-in perfectly with your natural teeth. After some tooth preparation, a crown is specially fitted to restore the look and functionality of your smile. If you have pain when chewing or temperature sensitivity, ask Dr. Lyons if crowns are for you.

Bridges

When teeth are missing, your smile undergoes significant changes. Missing teeth cause you to chew differently, may cause mouth pain, and as your remaining teeth work to compensate for the loss, gaps and spaces form that only make the situation worse. Your cheeks may even begin to take on a hollow look.

A porcelain bridge, custom designed by Dr. Lyons, keeps your smile aligned and your bite functional. A bridge involves a custom-made, porcelain prosthetic tooth that is permanently anchored to existing teeth or crowns on either side of the gap in your smile. Bridges look natural and feel just like your natural teeth.
